敷地は小樽の住宅地に位置し、
周囲には歴史ある建物と中高層マンションが混在している。

クライアントからは、
明るく、暖かく、プライバシーが確保され、使いやすい間取り、
さらに1階に3台分の駐車スペースを求められた。

これらの条件から、1階をピロティ形式とし、
駐車スペースを確保する構成とした。
その上で建物中央に大きな吹き抜けの“穴”を設け、
空へと開く構造としている。

敷地は北側へわずかに傾斜している。
その勾配を活かし、1階寝室の床レベルを敷地なりに下げ、
基礎を室内側に現し、蓄熱体として利用することで
安定した室内環境をつくった。

そのレベル差は2階にも反映し、
ダイニングとキッチンを一段上げるスキップフロアとすることで、
朝の光が入りやすい断面構成としている。

2階は中央の吹き抜けを囲むように回遊できる配置とした。
どこにいても空を感じ、
中央の開口越しに家族の気配が広がる。

周囲の雑多な風景からは距離を取りながら、
内部には光と空を取り込み、
日常の中にわずかな非日常をつくり出すことを目指した住まいである。

The site is situated in a residential neighborhood in Otaru,
where historic streetscapes coexist with contemporary apartment blocks.

The client requested a home that is bright, warm, private, and easy to use,
with parking space for three cars beneath the first floor.

In response, the ground level is designed as a pilotis,
accommodating the required parking area.
Above it, a large central void is carved out of the building,
opening the house vertically to the sky.

The site slopes gently toward the north.
Taking advantage of this condition,
the floor level of the first-floor bedroom is lowered along the natural grade.
The exposed concrete foundation is brought inside
and utilized as thermal mass,
helping to stabilize the indoor environment.

This sectional shift continues to the second floor,
where a skip-floor configuration subtly elevates the dining and kitchen areas,
allowing morning sunlight to enter more effectively.

The second floor is arranged to circulate around the central void.
From every position within the house,
the sky remains present,
and glimpses of family life unfold across the opening.

While distancing itself from the surrounding urban clutter,
the house draws light and sky into its core—
creating a quiet sense of extraordinariness within everyday life.
