Form Shaped by the Site.

This project began before the land was even purchased, with a simple question:
“What kind of building is possible on this site?”

The land slopes gently from a level approximately one story below the road.
With requirements for two parking spaces and limited budget for retaining walls, constraints were clear from the beginning.

Drainage conditions required water-related spaces to be concentrated on the second floor.
Surrounding views and daylight naturally determined the orientation of openings.

Through careful analysis of air flow, light, and site conditions, the building form emerged inevitably.

The selected passive ventilation system draws fresh air through the ground, utilizing geothermal energy as a simple heat exchange mechanism.

Fresh air enters beneath the first floor, warms within the underfloor space, and rises naturally through buoyancy.
This planned airflow provides a thermal effect similar to underfloor heating.

Warm air ascends along the sloped ceiling of the second-floor living space and is exhausted at the highest point.

Thus, the building’s form and plan were not arbitrary—they were derived from air, light, and the character of the site itself.
