敷地は江別の住宅街。
前面道路は狭い私道で袋小路となっており、
車庫への進入性を確保するため建物を斜めに配置する必要があった。

また、隣家の居間の窓が敷地のすぐ脇に位置していたため、
建物をやや後退させ、日照を遮らないよう配慮しながら
慎重に形状を定めていった。

裏手や周囲には複数の大きなマンションが建っている。
プライバシーを守りながら開放性を確保するため、
中央をくり抜いたコートハウス形式を採用した。

クライアントからの要望は、
「ローエネルギーで、肩肘を張らない暮らし」。
計画段階から、光、風、時間、素材といった
住まいの本質について多くの対話を重ねた。

床にはツーバイ材を敷き並べ、
壁はペンキ仕上げ、
天井は構造材であるツーバイ材をそのまま現しとした。
素朴で率直な素材の表情が空間を形づくる。

木がもつ反りや縮みといった自然な癖も、
ここでは欠点ではなく、素材の正直さとして受け止められる。
訪れる友人たちもどこか肩の力が抜け、
自然とくつろいでいるように感じられる。

リビングでは、構造材の間から差し込む光が
季節や時間ごとに異なる影を壁に落とし、
空間に豊かな変化をもたらす。

忙しい日常の中で忘れられがちな、
素朴で正直な感覚。
それをこの家では、正直に表現している。

The site is situated on a narrow cul-de-sac along a private road.
To allow smooth access into the garage, the building had to be positioned at an angle.

Because the neighboring living room window sits very close to the property line,
the house was slightly set back to avoid blocking sunlight,
and its form was carefully shaped in consideration of this relationship.

Large apartment buildings stand behind and nearby.
To secure privacy while maintaining openness,
a courtyard typology with a carved-out central void was adopted.

The client requested a low-energy home that would support a relaxed, unpretentious lifestyle.
Throughout the planning process, we shared conversations about light, wind, time, and materials.

The floors are finished with laid 2x lumber boards.
Walls are painted simply,
and the ceiling exposes the structural 2x members as they are.
The honest simplicity of the materials defines the atmosphere.

The natural tendencies of wood—warping and shrinking—are not treated as flaws,
but as qualities of genuine materials.
Visitors seem to relax naturally within this environment.

In the living space, light filters through the exposed structural members,
casting changing patterns on the walls throughout the seasons and hours of the day,
enriching the spatial experience.

In a busy modern life where many things are overlooked,
this house allows honesty and simplicity to quietly emerge.
